In an effort to better serve our educators, students, and community, Cheatham Co. is deploying Microsoft Active Directory throughout the school system network.
In order to complete this task, each individual school, or site, must be added into the new directory. This process of adding a site into the directory is
called a Migration and involves changes to both the user and system environments. It is easy to think of the new system as a phone book. Every server, computer,
user, mailbox, resource (conference rooms, projectors, printers,..etc) are all stored in this book or directory. In each school, or site, there will be a server
that keeps a copy of this directory. With this directory in place, it make it much easier for administrators to keep track of users, computers, resources, while
allowing them the ability to assign user rights and permissions to individual accounts and computers.
Among many others, benefits this new system offers are; a single cohesive domain providing one directory for all enterprise resources, accounts..etc,
centralized & site level data storage, consistent system time sync between all systems, internal and external cheatham.k12.tn.us email, Exchange\Outlook
collaboration services like resource sharing, calendaring, meeting\appointment request, public folders, and more. However, with any change, this new system
brings about new ways of doing things and performing daily tasks. This website provides important information concerning the new system and functionality within that system. If you require further assistance, please contact the network administrator at dovalllejp@cheatham.k12.tn.us.
