Message from your Board Chairperson

It has been a pleasure serving the Cheatham County Board of Education. My
decision to not seek re-election does not have anything to do with a lack of interest
in our schools. As most of you know, this is an extremely time consuming task
(Board member) to do it right. Between two different States, I have now been at this for
about eight years. It is time to step back and relax a bit and devote more time to family
matters.

My heartiest wishes go to the new Board members who succeed those departing the
Board of Education function. I know whomever is elected will take their responsibilities
seriously and with appropriate commitment. To assist prospective Board members, I
created a link just below this message. It includes a little bit about the Board operations
and also includes information on the school district itself as well as links to the Tennessee
and National School Boards Associations.

As I bid farewell when my term ends on August 31, I want to let all the staff and students
know that working with, and for, you has been a most rewarding experience and one that
I will treasure for years to come. You are all outstanding partners in education in a
County where we can, and should, “Expect Success” in our school programs and student
matriculation. So, with that, onward into the 21st century!

Barry E. Breen
Chairman, Board of Education
Cheatham County, Tennessee
