Purpose and Duties
The Technology Department for Cheatham County Schools is responsible for servicing over to 3,000 computers as well as over 30 servers, numerous types of software, printers, projectors and other multimedia components.

Our purpose in the Technology Department is to help teachers and students make the most of everything technology has to offer that they may not only benefit themselves in the school system but also be equipped to meet the needs of a community made up of diverse technological requirements.

Equipment
Technology can be a powerful teaching tool and here in Cheatham County it is very important to for us to stay current with the latest changes in the technology field and provide a sound infrastructure for its staff and students. Dell computers are the primary computers used throughout the Cheatham County School system. We are in the final steps of our "migration" into a sound Active Directory enterprise. We have been transitioning all our computers to have at least the Windows XP Professional operating system and a minimum of 512MB of RAM. Some older computers can still be found throughout the county but these will soon be phased out through the replacement program thats is ongoing.
