The Adult High School is provided to enable students and out-of-school youth to meet high school graduation requirements and receive a high school diploma.

Students taking a make-up credit at the Cheatham County Adult High School must complete the credit within 14 weeks for a full credit, or within 7 weeks for a half credit. The cost of a make-up credit at the Adult High School shall be the equivalent of the cost of a make-up credit at the system’s summer school.  Out of county students will be charged an additional $100 per credit.

The Cheatham County Adult High School is located at the Education Annex.  Acceptance to the high school for students under 17 years old must be approved by the principal.  The Adult High School is open Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am until 3:00 pm.

The GED test offers adults who left school an opportunity to continue their education. Students must demonstrate major skills in different test covering five major subject areas:

  • Language Arts: Writing
  • Language Arts: Reading
  • Social Studies
  • Mathematics
  • Science

Among the many benefits of the GED program, it provides a chance for teh adult to pass the exam and achieve this diploma. Ninety-five (95) percent of U.S. colleges and universities accept GED graduates who meet their other qualifications for admission. The GED diploma documents that you have high school-level academic skills. About 96 percent of employers accept the GED as equal to a traditional high school diploma.

If you are considering leaving high school, the GED Testing Service recommends that you first meet with your high school counselor to talk seriously about your decision and teh level of academic skill needed to pass the GED test.
